Happening in historic downtown Newmarket, NH
If you live in or near the NH seacoast area, make time this weekend (September 24th and 25th) to visit the 14th ANNUAL HERITAGE FESTIVAL!
The festival is the seacoast’s favorite international block party…. It’s a celebration of the arts, culture, history, and community spirit. Visit www.heritage-festival.org for schedule and details about performers, workshops, artisans and more.
Here’s a quick sampling of what you’ll find….
ON STAGE: Japanese taiko drumming, Polish accordion tunes, and a Bavarian oompah band; Indian and Israeli dancing; New England fiddling and American vaudeville; a Chinese yo-yo demonstration and a Bollywood dance workshop; folk, jazz, and barbershop music; dulcimers, doo-wop, and drum circles. Plus fencing, extreme juggling and regional favorites: Trash Can Lid Productions, the Jumbo Circus Peanuts and the Serfs!
ACTIVITIES:
Artisans at work, kayaking and boat tours, a colonial encampment, a model railway, history walks, sidewalk art, tai chi, and a world-famous sand sculptor creating replicas of Newmarket’s historic buildings. More about activities.
FOR KIDS: Try-it-yourself traditional crafts, farm animals, giant oxen teams, a climbing wall, a bungee bounce, juggling, giant ladder truck, face painting-and more!
COMMUNITY MEALS: A soup and chowder fest on Saturday night and a harvest supper on Sunday.
Plus you’ll find dozens of vendors in the festival marketplace selling fine arts and crafts, great gifts, good food, and more.
